Replacing the cartridge in the printer

Each owner of the printer, sooner or later, will face the need to replace the cartridges in their printer. And unfortunately, not everyone knows how to properly and safely replace this consumable item. In fact, there is nothing difficult in this task and, following simple rules, you will be able to produce without any problems, with your own hands, all the necessary manipulations to return the printer to full performance.

How to remove the old cartridge

Before proceeding to replace the cartridge, it is necessary to understand whether it is actually the problem. For this there are a number of basic features:

  • Color saturation is lost — ink on paper appears faded, and borders become a little blurry and uneven;
  • Line skips begin - on the top or bottom of the sheet, the effect of non-printed corners appears. The print looks very dull or completely absent;
  • The effect of light stripes - on a piece of visible light stripes throughout the entire sheet. This is the most common symptom when the ink begins to run out, so you need to change them;
  • Alert on display - if your device uses ink cartridges with an embedded chip, then similar elements are often equipped with a sensor that tells you when the ink begins to run out.

If you notice one of these signs, then this is a clear signal that it is necessary to replace the printing elements.

IMPORTANT. Before starting work on the replacement of any other elements in the printer, it is necessary to allow the machine to cool for 5-10 minutes. The ink nozzle, especially for laser printers, is very hot for operation. And if you do not let it cool, you can accidentally get serious burns.

Also, before starting work, it is recommended to remove the watches and bracelets in order not to accidentally catch on the internal elements.

To remove the cartridge, first turn off the device and let it cool. Then opens the lid to gain access to the internal elements and consumable components of the device. After gaining access to the inside, you need to find the consumables themselves. Conceived, they automatically leave for the convenience of users. If this does not happen, you need to gently move the carriage to the service position yourself.

To detach the cartridge, first check for additional mounts. And if you find one, click these clips. Then gently pull the cartridge towards itself, at its center. He should effortlessly detach from the carriage and drive along the built-in rails.

IMPORTANT. If the cartridge is jammed, then you should not try to pull it out. Doing so may permanently damage the carriage, causing complete damage to the printer. To resolve such damage, take the printer to a specialized service.

To remove an already disconnected cartridge, you should carefully take it by the bulging part and place it in a container or bag. This process should be done especially carefully so that you do not accidentally stain your clothes or surrounding objects.

Preparing a new cartridge

Before you install a new cartridge, you should check if it is really suitable for your printer. To do this, check the following points:

  • Originality - often when ordering from unverified stores you can get a fake of the original consumable item. It will probably even work, but the quality of the ink will definitely be lower than that of the original products. And the use of such a cartridge can lead to leakage of ink or clogged nozzles.
  • Compatibility - the manufacturer produces many printers and inks for them, respectively. But every time to make new ink cases is unprofitable and the same cases are used. Which leads to the fact that, even if the cartridges look the same, it still does not indicate their compatibility with the printer. To reliably establish compatibility, it is necessary to verify the labeling on your old and new components.
  • Integrity - even when buying a new and original item, there may be a marriage, and this also needs to be monitored. If the tightness of the pigment liquid container is impaired, it may leak or dry. That will lead to more serious damage to the device.

Installing a new cartridge in the device

After removing the old and checking the new consumable component, you can proceed to the installation. To do this, place the new one in the grooves on the rails, and then gently push it in until it clicks. And if there were additional attachments, then they also need to be fixed.

Install the consumable item should be without much effort. If you try to force the element in by force, you can damage the attachments and make it impossible to continue using this carriage. It is necessary to press strictly on the center. Otherwise, the cartridge may not stand up correctly and will not work correctly.

Replacing the cartridge in an inkjet and laser printer: what are the differences

The differences lie primarily in the devices themselves. Inkjet uses pigment ink, which is fed to the sheets through a special nozzle. In laser powder is used, which under the action of laser beams melts and integrates into the paper structure.

There are also inkjet printers with ink refueling. This allows you not to buy a whole cartridge, but only jars with the necessary ink.

In other cases, all distinguishing are reduced to the shape of the carriage and consumable items. The replacement process will be almost identical.
