What is parquet?

Parquet has long been used as flooring and is still at the peak of popularity. This is a stylish natural material that looks beautiful and original in any interior. In addition, it adds a special chic to the design and gives the room some nobility.

What is parquet?

Parquet is a small wooden dice made of hard and thick wood to provide flooring for a long period of operation. It is environmentally friendly and has a beneficial effect on the human body. Moreover, its beauty in the interior of any style is undeniable.

It is laid individually on the floor, creating unique patterns. The natural texture of the tree allows you to create a fresh and original image of the room. However, it is worth noting. That this type of flooring, unlike other popular types of finishes, is expensive. This is due to the lack of synthetic substances in the manufacture of the product, it is completely natural.

Important! Before making a decision about laying parquet, it is worth examining the issue of not only its single-piece installation, but also further care during operation, as this point is also very important for preserving the parquet of its natural attractive appearance.

Description, concept

Parquet is wooden lamellas made from such species of natural wood as ash, wenge, oak, maple and others. In some cases, compounds of these tree species can be used to achieve a unique texture and give a unique image in the room.

Parquet has the following parameters:

  • the thickness of the dies (this parameter depends on the manufacturer of the natural coating and varies between 12-22 mm);
  • length (depending on the variety, the length of one panel is from 15 to 90 cm);
  • width (parquet strip in width does not exceed 3-9 cm).

All parameters are strictly verified and depend on the specific company of the manufacturer. Dies are made quite thick so that their life is as long as possible.

Important! Lay piece parquet or parquet board only on a flat surface. Only in this case will the flooring look perfect.

Types, Types

There are several types of parquet flooring that are used in interior decoration:

  • piece (it is durable, can be partially repaired and stacked with various patterns, this is one of the most popular options for flooring);
  • typesetting (this type of material allows you to make a kind of mosaic on the floor from wooden dice, which will create an unusual and attractive pattern);
  • shield (represents large sheets, about 80x80 cm, which are laid in even rows on the floor, they already contain the original drawing, but they can be supplemented with thin dies to match);
  • palace (in the collection of such material is not simply a beautiful floor, but a real work of art, this is the most expensive of the presented types of flooring);
  • massive (made of solid wood, is an integral element that is quite expensive in price, but this is directly reflected in its performance, such a coating will last a very long time);
  • parquet board (represents a long lamella in which several elements are already fixed by the manufacturer, laying such material is much easier than piecework).

Depending on the chosen type of flooring, tools and materials for work are selected. Some varieties can be mounted independently, having studied the basic rules of this craft. And it is better to entrust the costly and difficult to install lamellas to the hands of experienced professionals who know exactly how to make the floor perfect.

Important! It should be understood that the parquet must be contained in certain conditions, it requires a constant temperature in the room without extremes and high humidity. If there are no such conditions in the room, it is better to choose a different material for decoration.

Coating features

The main advantages of natural parquet are its naturalness and environmental friendliness. It can be laid in any room, even in nurseries, without fear for the baby’s health. In addition, not a single material can be compared with it in durability, it will serve for many years with proper care and timely repair.

Parquet board also has its advantages over the now popular laminate. It is less prone to abrasion and more durable. This is explained by its thickness, which should be taken into account when buying, if there are already interior doors in the room where the installation is planned.

The material has its drawbacks. The most important of them is the high cost. In addition, parquet requires careful care and proper washing using special products. Stains, browning and marks must be removed in a timely manner. Also, parquet requires regular updates, hitching and varnishing. Heavy furniture or sharp objects can easily stop scratches on the board that are difficult to remove on your own.
