Electric stove power

Before purchasing an electric stove, people ask themselves a choice - it is important not to make a mistake, because this kitchen equipment will have to serve for many years. One of the main aspects that you should pay attention to when buying is power. The electric stove is the number one consumer of electricity in the house. For optimal use, you need to know about the kitchen appliances of what capacity are produced by manufacturers and how this indicator affects the operation of the unit.

Currently, there are classic cookers - with traditional burners. The heating element is a spiral. Their heating and cooling is rather slow. Glass ceramics are heated more evenly, and it will take less time to cool. The efficiency of such household appliances is quite low.

Cookers with induction hobs are also available. In them, heating occurs due to vortex flows, which are formed by a high-frequency magnetic field of 20-100 kHz. In this case, heating does not occur on the burner, but on the dishes standing on it. The working area is heated to a maximum of 60 degrees. This is its significant advantage, since during the operation of such equipment it is impossible to get burned.

The power consumption of appliances increases with the number of burners and their diameter, and the presence of other heating elements also affects this indicator:

  • 2 cast iron burners will take 2000 watts;
  • 4 - from 5000 W;
  • 4th burners with induction heating may require from 10,400 watts.

But this is provided that you have to use all the burners at the same time, and this is extremely rare - only when you need to cook a large amount of food. Usually, one or two works.

When choosing a stove, it should be taken into account that its power will affect the heating rate and the number of fully-functioning burners at the same time. The oven will require the most energy. But high-quality insulation of the oven will reduce the loss of electricity and money.

The user can optimize the cost of electric energy of his stove if:

  • will use dishes with a flat bottom - this will improve the heat transfer between the burner and the pan or pan;
  • will cook in a pan or pan with a diameter approximately equal to the diameter of the burner;
  • when using a stove with cast-iron burners, turn it off before cooking is finished - cast iron stores heat for a long time and after turning off the food will continue to cook for a while.

Many people ask: "How many kilowatts does electric stove consumption make?" The approximate amount of energy that, on average, a household appliance consumes per month is:

  • an engine mounted on a rotisserie for grill - 6 W;
  • oven lighting - 15.0-25.0 W;
  • a burner with a diameter of 14.5 cm - 1.0 kW;
  • diameter 18.8 cm - 1.5 kW;
  • diameter 20 cm - 2.0 kW;
  • upper and lower heating elements in classic stoves 0.8 and 1.0 kW, respectively;
  • The heater installed on the grill in the oven is 1.5 kW.

A large burner needs the most energy to operate, but its heating rate is significantly higher than burners of a smaller diameter.

REFERENCE! Currently, all household appliances are labeled by manufacturers according to economic efficiency classes. The smaller the amount of energy required to reach a given temperature, the higher the class. The marking is indicated in English letters: A, B, C ... G. Moreover, the marking "A" means high energy efficiency. Even the class A +, A ++, and A +++ appeared. This designation marks the most economically highly efficient household appliances. Modern plate models can be cheaper to use than outdated ones.

Induction burners consume more power. But there are advantages to saving money when using the device correctly:

  1. When using not only special utensils, but also utensils with ferromagnetic qualities (this includes even outdated enamel pots), less heat loss occurs. If the magnet attached to the bottom of the container sticks, the cookware is suitable for induction heating.
  2. Quickly removing the pot or pan from the stove will also save money, because the burner in this case instantly stops heating.
  3. Some options that are equipped with a stove with induction heating also provide an opportunity for savings: auto shut off when boiling, timer.

For operation of 4 induction hobs, up to 7 kW is most often required. 3-5 kW are consumed for heating. It should be noted that it takes half as much time to heat such a stove.

Usually they are equipped with a display. It displays the modes and power levels. Due to the low temperature of the working surfaces, nothing burns to such a stove. Therefore, it is easy to keep clean. When you try to use cookware with a diameter that is very different from the diameter of the burner, it will not turn on. How not to turn on and when trying to put on it dishes with a diameter of less than 100 mm.

REFERENCE! There are also combination plates. They have hobs with induction heating and with installed heating elements. In them, as in any other equipment, the power consumption will be spelled out in the manual for technical operation.

Since the electric power of the stove is quite large, when designing electrical circuits in the house, it is necessary to take into account the maximum power of the stove. When installing, it needs a separate line and socket.

Also required:

  • three-core cable with double insulation and a cross-section of copper of at least 4 square millimeters;
  • protective shutdown device not less than 32 A;
  • power socket 32 A;
  • input automaton no less than 32 A.

If the user is not an electrician, it’s better to invite a specialist to install the electric stove (you should not forget to require his certificate of completed work), since all connections must be very high quality. High power consumption of a household appliance can lead to overheating of contacts and short circuiting.

If you select a high-class stove of economic efficiency, perform the correct installation and comply with optimal operating conditions, you can not only save money, but also enjoy using modern household appliances.
