How to print a test page
This can be done in several ways - using a computer and without its participation. To test the printer in the first way, follow this algorithm:
- Click "Start" and in the taskbar on the right, select "Control Panel";
- Select "Printers", in the pop-up window, using the right mouse button, click on the desired device. Next, in the pop-up context menu, select the "Properties" section;
- In the "General" section, click "Test Print".
IMPORTANT! If you are using the printer for the first time or after a long break in work, you must wait about 30 seconds. This time is needed in order to collect complete information about the system. The parameters of such a page do not need to be built, they are set by default.
You can check the quality and operation of the device without connecting to a PC. The first step is to load paper in the sheet feed tray. Then you need to press the power button and hold it in this position for 5-10 seconds.
On some models, such a button depicts a sheet of paper or the corresponding word is written. Also, in models without a display, you must click the Stop button, the image on it looks like a triangle in a circle. For devices with a control screen, the following sequence of actions is suitable - "Installation", "Maintenance", "Checking the CCD", "Start" and "Print".
Why do I need to print a test page
Such an operation of any device of this kind has several functions:
- Confirmation of the fact of the device;
- Checking the quality of printing, the correct alignment of the color gamut, the absence of ink stains, distortions and irregularities;
- Checking the basic settings and setting the necessary parameters.

What should I do if the test page is defective?
This situation is based on several root causes. First you need to figure out the source of the problem. As a rule, when you issue a test page, two problems can arise: the device prints a sheet with an image and text of poor quality or does not print at all, does not respond to your commands. Such situations have several solutions:
- Perhaps the problem arose due to the presence of outdated drivers. To restore the printer, you must download and install an updated version of the software components. If the work has not recovered and you need to expand the rights, do it - disable UAC. Utilities such as Process Explorer and Procmon by Sysinternals will serve as assistants.
- Failure to display a test page can occur for technical reasons, such as a lack of paper in the sheet feed tray, a paper jam, or a cartridge that is not correctly installed in the slot. To find out whether a similar problem has occurred, you can use the indication (the red light on the device will light) or by connecting the device to the computer and reading the driver data.
- A problem may also occur in the device itself. To study printing, use the stop test. To do this, during the printing process, you must disconnect the printer from the network and look at the sheet, some of which is still in the device. So you determine if there is a problem in the components of the unit.
