Black stripes when printed by a laser printer

Any technique, over time, begins to work differently than originally intended. There are many reasons for this and they are the most diverse. The most common malfunction, both in inkjet and laser printers are stripes when printing. So why is there a black bar while printing on paper?

Why a laser printer prints with black stripes: reasons

Printers often have all sorts of print trouble. In laser printers, such a misfortune is that they often “strip” when printing. Why is this happening? Yes, there are many reasons:

  • There is not enough toner in the cartridge.
  • The cartridge is depressurized.
  • Damaged drum.
  • Damage to the magnetic shaft or foreign object on it (this is eighty percent guarantee that there will be a strip along the edge of the sheet when printing).
  • Overflowed waste bunker.
  • The toner dosing blade is not securely installed.
  • Damaged contacts between magnetic shaft and photodrum.

This list can continue to continue, it is quite extensive. But these are the most frequent and most likely causes of this failure. And let's see how to fix all these problems.

How to normalize the printer?

When you do troubleshooting on your own laser printer, pay close attention to the nature of the bands. This will facilitate the identification of the causes that led to their occurrence.

  • Suppose on the printout goes in the center, through the entire sheet strip. Usually, this indicates that the powder in the cartridge is running low. And the less there is in the toner cartridge, the wider the strip becomes. But if, after checking the cartridge, you find that there is more than enough powder there, it turns out that the feed system itself is out of order. The best way is to contact the service center specialists.
  • If the stripes on paper look like a bunch of small dots, then in 90 percent of a hundred, this is an obvious overflow of the waste toner box. The bunker needs to be cleaned and it is advisable to do this before each refilling of the cartridge. Do not be lazy. In some cases, this type of strip may be due to incorrect installation of the metering blade. Pay attention to this moment.
  • If you notice that faded black stripes are going across the page, then clearly nothing good can be expected. Usually they are caused by a worn magnetic shaft. In this case, you need to either replace the shaft or the entire cartridge.
  • If the dark stripes come from one edge or on both edges of the sheet, then the photodrum is likely to have worn out, and maybe completely damaged. No matter how sad, but have to change it. The fact is that there is a special layer on the drum and with time it becomes unusable, in other words, it is erased. It is very difficult to restore it, so it is easier to replace.

REFERENCE! If you see irregularly shaped stripes that are located on the whole sheet and create the appearance of a background, then a toner of poor quality may be the cause of this phenomenon. Another likely reason - contaminated magnetic shaft.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated. And similar “striped problems” are eliminated on laser printers much easier than on inkjet ones. If the printer has started to strip, just note the shape of the stripes and the place where they appear. And at the same time check:

  • Is there enough powder in the bunker;
  • Is the drum unit faulty;
  • Check the condition of the cartridge;
  • Is the waste toner box full?
