How to create a folder on a laptop without a mouse

Before the appearance of computer mice, commands and data were entered into the system using the keyboard. Now the user-friendly interface allows you to implement almost all of its functionality with a couple of mouse clicks. However, it will not be out of place to know about a couple of small tricks that allow you to create a new directory using commands from the keyboard only by sending a message.

How to create a folder without using the mouse on a PC

Typically, PC users prefer to create folders using a computer mouse. However, this is not the only way possible. If you do not like to take your hands off the keyboard, or your mouse suddenly broke, then you can use hot keys.

REFERENCE. Hotkeys are a combination of several buttons that allow you to quickly execute the desired command. Knowledge of hot combinations saves time and allows you to use additional system functionality.

There are two ways to create a new folder.

First way:

1. We press simultaneously Win + D.
2. We enter the Windows context menu by simultaneously pressing Shift + F10.
3. Arrows find the item "create".
4. Using Enter, select the function to create a new folder.

REFERENCE. On the Win key, the Windows logo is drawn in the form of four squares-windows. By clicking Win you can open the Start menu without using the mouse.

The second way:

1. We return to the desktop.
2. Press Shift + Ctrl + N.
3. The folder is ready.

REFERENCE. If you decide to try both options in turn, then before using the second method, click on Win + D again.

The second method is the simplest, and works equally on both a PC and a laptop. However, this only works on operating systems starting with Windows 7 and above.

REFERENCE. You can rename your folder immediately after creation by simply typing the text and pressing Enter.

How to create a folder without using the mouse on a laptop

Modern laptops are equipped with a built-in touchpad, so they don’t need a mouse as such. However, the laptop also has the ability to create a folder using a combination of hot keys. The first method differs from the computer version in minor changes:

• We press simultaneously Win + D.
• Press Shift + F10 at the same time, only this time we add the Fn key to them.
• Create a new folder using the Enter key.

REFERENCE. The Fn key provides access to additional features of the laptop. Usually, special function keys are marked in the same color as Fn, and only work in conjunction with this button.

The second method uses the same combination of buttons as on the PC: Shift + Ctrl + N. On most modern laptops, this method also works great.
