For many years, TVs with LCD screens have replaced picture tubes from homes. The new technology made it possible to transfer the smallest details of the image, and also provided the TV receivers with thinness and light weight, so these devices look great in the interior and are easy to install and transport.
However, everything has a downside - this evolution, among other things, provided them with high fragility, which required special care in operation. One way or another, screen damage occurs that is incompatible with further comfortable viewing of films and programs, and sometimes completely making this impossible. Therefore, consumers are wondering - is it possible to repair LCD screens and does it make sense?
In order to understand the nature of the damage, it is necessary to have a concept of the design of the screen or matrix. The smallest liquid crystals located between two thin glasses are located on its entire surface. They respond to the supplied electrical signals and, depending on them, transmit a particular color, together creating a common image. Each of them is controlled by a special driver located on a flexible cable mounted in glass.
REFERENCE! Since it is impossible to separate the cable from the glass, its damage leads to a complete matrix malfunction.
In addition, there are the following causes of screen breaks:
- mechanical damage resulting from the fall of the TV, hitting it, or flooding it with water or other liquids;
- breakdown of microcircuits responsible for the operation of liquid crystals;
- "burning out" of the stripes of pixels is not for mechanical reasons;
- failure of the backlight.
In the latter case, there is a chance for a successful outcome of events, if we are talking about old models with halogen lamps, which are easily replaceable. If the TV uses LED backlight technology, that is, with LEDs, then everything depends on the manufacturer. Some of them produce models in which LEDs are built into fixed cables. In this case, this problem is equivalent to a broken screen.
Unfortunately, the answer to this question is no. If the TV receiver crashes and crashes, it is impossible to fix the broken screen, it can only be replaced with a new one. And then new questions arise before the consumer - now not of a technical, but of a financial nature.
The fact is that the matrix is the most expensive part of the TV, whose price is slightly lower than its cost. In most high-quality repair services, they will honestly tell you that it is more profitable to buy a new one rather than spending money first on acquiring an almost equivalent matrix, and then investing in replacement work additionally (and if there is no way to call a master at home, you will also have to spend money on careful transportation )
ATTENTION! An exception is expensive plasma panels. Their cost can be 3-4 times more expensive than the screen, so in this case it is more profitable to replace.
If you are afraid to touch the TV with an awkward movement and drop it, or there are restless children and hyperactive animals in the house, it makes sense to take measures to protect the screen from damage.
You can purchase and install a protective acrylic screen, which will slightly affect the thickness and in no way impair the image quality, but at the same time provide protection from water, scratches and shock. In addition, it protects the matrix from dust, which can also adversely affect it, so it will be a useful purchase, even if everything is calm in your house.
The only danger remains - falls. You can avoid it by buying a special bracket for hanging the TV to the ceiling.
Both of these will require certain financial investments, however, you have already seen that active games, one toy thrown in the wrong direction, or even just one awkward movement can lead to the need to buy a new TV. Having done the described manipulations, you can no longer fear this.
